As part of the Maraenui Community, Maraenui Medical Centre upholds our commitment to providing equity and achieving positive health outcomes for our whai ora, their whanau and the community we serve, by reducing barriers and improving access.  We uphold our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi throughout our practice.

Health Equity Initiatives

We meet quarterly to discuss Health Equity Initiative targets that we wish to achieve for our patients, for example:

Diabetes Management

Health Heart Checks

Respiratory (Asthma/COPD)

Childhood Immunisations

Flu vaccinations

Cervical Smears

Communication (e.g. Patient Portal)

Equitable Services and Access

Patients can typically get an appointment with their GP within 24hours but often on the same day.

Acute patients triaged on the day by phone or nurses if in person.

Health Coach (Poutoko) and Health Improvement Practitioner (Pouora) within 48 hours or on the day if they are available.
